Lagos, Nigeria – 12 November 2025 — The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the African Coconut Heritage Initiative (Africoco), Badagry Local Government, Olorunda, and Badagry West Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), is set to host the 12th International Coconut Festival, popularly known as Agunkefest 2025.
The annual event, which celebrates the economic, cultural, and environmental significance of the coconut, will hold from Wednesday, 3rd December to Saturday, 6th December 2025, across various locations in Badagry—the historical hub of coconut cultivation in Nigeria.
Day One – Coconut Tree Planting Program

The International Coconut Festival serves as a strategic platform to promote the coconut value chain, enhance agribusiness innovation, and foster community-based empowerment across Lagos State. It also provides opportunities for cultural exchange, creative expression, and collaboration among farmers, investors, artisans, and youth.
Speaking on the forthcoming event, representatives of Africoco reiterated the organization’s commitment to working with government and stakeholders to sustain the coconut industry as a major contributor to food security, employment, and environmental sustainability.
Agunkefest 2025 is proudly supported by the Lagos State Government, the Lagos State Coconut Development Authority (LASCODA), NACOPPMAN, and other development partners who share in the vision of making Lagos a global hub for coconut production and value addition.
Members of the public, industry stakeholders, and cultural enthusiasts are cordially invited to participate in this year’s celebration as Lagos continues to nurture the coconut — Africa’s Tree of Life.
